The club hosted an exclusive chalet at the Cheltenham Festival on Thursday, March 13 and the bumper 10-race card provided a feast of high-class racing action for members to enjoy. The next major club social event is Royal Ascot on Saturday June 21, where club members will have access to a special facility in the Royal Enclosure, followed by an after-party at the course, hosted by London club Movida.

BetfairClub ROA is the perfect introduction for anyone aged 18-32 interested in becoming an owner.

The club leases five horses for members to follow (Flat and jumps) and arranges stable tours and other racing-related social events throughout the season.

Our Trainers

David Pipe

David Pipe is in his second season as a licensed trainer, having taken over at Pond House, Somerset, from Champion trainer Martin.

David trained 134 winners in his first season from a string of 140.

Reidwil

Reidwil (FR) is a 5yo gelding by Bonnet Rouge out of Reine Du Mont. This horse’s best run from 5 starts was a 1/2 length 2nd at Lingfield. He is currently running in hurdle races.

Eve Johnson Houghton

Eve Johnson Houghton is in her first season training, after taking over from father Fulke. Eve trains from Woodway stables, Oxon.

Eve has recorded 11 wins already this season from a string of 40.

Support Fund

Support Fund (IRE) is a 4yo filly by Intikhab out of Almost A Lady.

'Sporty' has run 13 times on the Flat, winning twice at Brighton and placing four times in races from 6-8 furlongs. She will run on the turf during Summer 2008.

Nicky Vaughan

Nicky Vaughan started training this season, having previously been Assistant to John Gosden.

Nicky trains at Michael Owen’s Manor House stables, Cheshire and trains mostly juveniles.

 

 

Alan McCabe

Alan McCabe trains from Paul Dixon’s Haygarth House stables in Nottinghamshire.

Alan has previously worked for Godolphin and now has charge of a string of 40 horses.

Cornus

Cornus (GB) is a 6yo gelding by Inchinor out of Demerger.

Cornus has been a star for the club, running up a sequence of wins in the second half of 2007. He runs over distances between 5 and 7 furlongs on all surfaces.

Ferdy Murphy

Ferdy Murphy, who has been in racing almost all his working life, trains in Middleham in North Yorkshire.

He has enjoyed frequent big successes at Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown.

Cardinal Spirit

Cardinal Spirit is a 6yo gelding who is being campaigned over hurdles.

His best effort to date was victory in the club's colours at Doncaster.

EVENTS

Betfair Brigadier evening, Thursday 29 May: Sandown have a 2-for-1 tickets offer. Members can take it up by producing their membership cards at the entrance. We will organise a meeting place for members.

Epsom Derby, Saturday June 7: Places are available to Club members on special open-top buses run by Casus Events. The package costs £100 per person and includes transport to and from central London (drop offs at Kings Road & Victoria) to Epsom by open-top bus, and entrance to the Lonsdale Enclosure. The buses are an iconic feature of Derby Day and this is your chance to experience the thrill of the races from onboard!

The buses are based alongside the rail during the racing, in the Lonsdale Enclosure, opposite the Queen's Stand. Bring your own food and drink to make the day go with a swing! To reserve your place, e-mail us at betfairclubroa@roa.co.uk

Brighton Racecourse ownership day, Wednesday 11 June: We have a table for ten people. The day begins at 11.45am with Champagne and strawberries. Our horse Support Fund will be in a special parade, followed by lunch and racing. This event is free for members. Email betfairclubroa@roa.co.uk to reserve a place. First come, first served.

Saturday 21 June: The club will host a private facility within the Norfolk Restaurant in the Royal Enclosure.

The facility is free to members and is a short walk from the pre-parade ring. Dining is available in the facility, along with a 'chill out' area with easy chairs and a private bar. The first race is 2.30pm and the last is at 5.30pm.

Organising your badge: All badges must be purchased in advance through the ROA office. The cost will be £26 for those under 25 and £82 for those over 25. (Closing date for badges is May 30th).

Movida Party - 21st June after racing at Ascot

Club members are invited to stay on after racing for the Movida Party in a marquee on the Lawn inside the Royal Enclosure. Tickets cost £58.75. Download your ticket application form from http://movida-ascot.com/(please mention BetfairClub ROA on your form) and send to Dimitri Serif at Movida address.

Applications will only be accepted by members who have applied for Royal Enclosure badges for racing, as the event is subject to the same security checks.

The party, which was attended by many sporting celebrities last year, includes:

Ascot accommodation deal: We've arranged a discounted all inclusive rate of £115 per room inc breakfast at the following hotel for club members wanting to stay over on the night of June 21 at Ascot: Sunningdale Park, Larch Avenue, Ascot, Berkshire SL5 0QE.

There are no twin rooms available, so the rate is for single or double occupancy. The Sunningdale Park is two miles/five minutes by car to the racecourse, and is five minutes from Sunningdale railway station (transfers can be arranged in advance). Newmarket Nights - Friday August 15: This event is free to members + one guest. The Club will be sponsoring a race at this evening race meeting on the July course, Newmarket. We have a Club marquee (great location for racing and band) with drinks and snacks for members and guests.The band playing after racing are Boyzone. We hope you will join us for a fun evening.

Breeders Cup 2008: BetfairClub ROA will be hosting a five-day tour to the 2008 Breeders' Cup from Wednesday 22 to Monday 27 October. Including two days racing at Santa Anita racetrack in California, this trip will also include visits to Clocker's Corner to watch horses work, see the famous Santa Monica beach and a trip to a stud farm and vineyard in the Santa Barbara valley.

The package (excluding flights) to include tours, four nights' hotel accommodation (twin rooms, for single or shared occupancy as required), breakfasts, bus service throughout, two days of racing at Santa Anita (incl. lunch & racecards) for £350 per person.
