Having graduated from Cambridge University with a first class honours degree in Economics, Richard has spent his working life involved in racing and related industries.
After taking part in the Jockey Club Graduate Development Programme in 1992, he was placed with William Hill where he spent three years as an odds compiler, specialising in horse racing. He then moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers in Cambridge, where he qualified as a chartered accountant whilst working with a number of racing industry clients. He joined the British Racing School as finance director before, in 2004, moving to the British Horseracing Authority as assistant racing director.
Richard became chief executive of the Racehorse Owners Association in January 2012. He has been a racehorse owner for sixteen years, having been involved with numerous horses trained by Chris Wall in Newmarket.

Sadie has spent her working life in horseracing and publishing.
Her first job was with Reed Business Publishing, working within the editorial team on a monthly business title.
A keen interest in racing led her to move to the Racing Post, where she spent nine years, initially assisting in the editorial department, and latterly as assistant to the editor.
This was followed by a spell of two years as assistant to the director of regulation at The Jockey Club.
Sadie joined the ROA in 2000 as membership secretary and PA to the chief executive, and is now the membership manager.
She has been involved in racehorse ownership, flat and jumps, for five years.

Joanne holds a BSc degree in Business from the University of London.
Following a longstanding involvement with Simon Dow’s Epsom yard and completion of the British Horseracing Board’s Graduate Development Programme in 1996, Joanne began work at the Racing Post in 1997 in the advertising department. Upon the merger with the Sporting Life soon after, Joanne became assistant to the editor of the newspaper, and worked for two successive editors in this role.
Leaving the Racing Post after seven years, Joanne departed from racing for the City in 2004 and worked for a successful financial PR company for two and a half years before the lure of racing drew her back to the sport, joining the ROA in 2006 as marketing executive and then marketing manager.

Subscriptions Secretary
Chloe has worked with horses since leaving school. She worked at a local riding school and livery yard for 3 years before completing the 9-week Foundation course at the British Racing School in Newmarket.
Chloe then went on to work in Lambourn for racehorse trainers, Rod Simpson and Harry Dunlop as a stable lass and for Noel Chance as a work rider where she also completed her NVQ level 3 in Racehorse Management. After completing the NVQ Level 3 she decided to continue her studies and enrolled on the relatively new Foundation Degree in Horseracing Industry (Business, Management & Practice) which is administered via distance learning through Warwickshire College and the British Racing School. She is hoping to top-up the Degree to include Honours, this is on target to be completed in 2014.
Chloe began working for the ROA in May 2011 as Subscriptions Secretary, she also updates the website on a daily basis. She still enjoys riding out at the weekends for Noel Chance and occasionally for Ian Wood.

Sarah first got interested in racing aged 12, after watching her mum win money on Commander In Chief’s win in the Derby - twelve months later, after having backed every winner on the card, she was hooked for life!
A BSc (Hons) degree in Equine Science from Imperial College preceded two years work at Satellite Information Services (SIS) on the ATR Teletext service. After a year at Ladbrokes, getting the Ladbrokes Xtra service off the ground Sarah returned to SIS as a Data Co-Ordinator for a further five years.
The opportunity to work for the ROA proved too good an opportunity to miss though, and Sarah has been a member of the staff since November 2011.
Favourite horses: The Minstrel (despite being before her time), Flake, Whitbarrow, and Kauto Star.
