Prize-money

As an owner of a Grp1 horse, I think the 10% prize money for the trainer and 5% for the stable is not fair, because owners pay the very expensive entry fees, training fees, transport, travel for all involved, and then the trainer takes his percetage from the full amount of the prize money were it should be after all expenses deducted. an example last year we ran a horse in Germany, he came third in a group1 race, prize money was 25000 euros, and we owners ended up paying 27000 euros,so while everybody took their full percentage we ended up paying from our own pocket. How can this system be Fair?? Percentage should be given after all costs paid by the owner to participate in the race are back to the owner. After all the trainers are not doing this for free and are paid very good money for their training fees.

Prize-money in France

Have today attended an all weather meeting at Chantilly where the prize money paid was between 18000euros and 30000euros per race with half the races 30000 or near. Apart from the scenery the only difference to Wolverhampton was there were no bookmakers!
If only horse racing did not have to contribute to bookmakers profits!
