ROA Scotland
ROA Scotland is the first-ever regional section of the ROA.
Created in January 2004, it offers "added value" reasons for owners to belong to the association north of the border.
The decision by the ROA Council to proceed with a Scottish section came as a result of the increasing cohesion of the horse racing industry in Scotland - the five racecourses at Ayr, Hamilton Park, Kelso, Musselburgh and Perth, for example, are marketed together as 'Scottish Racing'.
Alan
Guthrie (pictured), who has been co-opted on to the Council to represent
ROA Scotland, said:
"This is a most encouraging step forward for the racing industry in Scotland, and Scottish racehorse owners in particular."
Sixty per cent of racehorse owners in Scotland now belong to the ROA.
ROA members in Scotland are being offered extra benefits. Those with a registered financial interest of 5% or more in a racehorse trained in Scotland can obtain complimentary admission to almost all race meetings in Scotland in a deal agreed between ROA Scotland and the five racecourses.
